About iStreamPilot
iStreamPilot publishes step-by-step streaming guides for cord-cutters, IPTV users, and anyone who wants to get more out of their streaming devices. We cover Roku, Fire Stick, Android TV, and Google TV — from device setup and sideloading to VPN configuration and sports blackout workarounds.
Editorial Policy
Our guides are written to be genuinely useful. We aim to give you the clearest, most accurate instructions available — the kind of guide we'd want to find ourselves.
Affiliate Relationships
iStreamPilot earns commissions when you purchase products through affiliate links on our site. This includes VPN subscriptions and hardware purchased through Amazon. These commissions help fund the site and keep our content free.
How this affects our content: Affiliate relationships do not determine our rankings or recommendations. We recommend products we believe offer genuine value for the use cases we cover. When multiple products serve the same purpose, we recommend the one we believe offers the best combination of performance, value, and ease of use for our readers.
How We Test
Our VPN testing is conducted on real hardware — Fire Stick 4K Max, Fire TV Cube, and Roku devices connected to consumer broadband. We test for:
- Speed impact: Measured as percentage reduction from base connection speed using the same server locations across all VPNs
- Streaming unblocking: Tested against Netflix (multiple regions), MLB.TV, ESPN+, BBC iPlayer, Disney+, and DAZN
- IPTV stability: Tested with TiviMate and IPTV Smarters Pro on live channels for sustained viewing
- App quality: Evaluated native Fire TV and Android TV apps for remote usability, stability, and features
- Router compatibility: Tested OpenVPN and WireGuard configurations on ASUS routers for Roku setups
Speed results are reported as percentage reductions rather than absolute Mbps figures, since absolute speeds vary based on your base connection, time of day, server distance, and ISP. Percentage reductions provide a more consistent comparison across different home setups.
